Russian logistics giant sees boom in Indian imports
FESCO Transportation Group, one of Russia's leading intermodal transport operators, has reported a significant increase in cargo carriage volume from India to Russia over the past two years. German Maslov, Vice President of FESCO's Liner and Logistics Division, made an announcement to this effect during the Russia-India business dialogue at the Eastern Economic Forum.
“We are witnessing a surge in cargo carriage volume from India. Over the past two years, the numbers have been increasing by tens of percentage points annually,” said Mr Maslov, emphasising that there are currently no restrictions or capacity shortages hindering this growth.
FESCO has been actively expanding its services to meet the rising demand. The company has recently increased its capacity on the West India-Novorossiysk route by deploying larger vessels, boosting overall capacity by about 25%.
Mr Maslov also highlighted a substantial shift in the shipping landscape between Russia and India. While three to five years ago this route was dominated by foreign freight enterprises with Russian companies having minimal presence in the market, the situation has changed dramatically since then. At present, this route is operated primarily by Russian and Chinese maritime carriers.
